Tips for Making a Successful Transition

  • Use an agenda for recording assignments and check the website frequently.
  • Prepare for all quizzes and tests – reviews are given for all tests.
  • Bring required text to class everyday – unless notified by the teacher not to do so.
  • Complete all homework and major assignments on time – do not plan to turn anything in late.
  • Realize that you are now in high school; personal responsibility is very important.  Be prepared and do all of the above and you will have a very smooth transition to high school.
  • Most important tip:  These are your high school years; work hard but enjoy these years – they will only come once in your lifetime.

Literature Selections 2009-2010

One of the first questions students ask is, “What are we going to read this year?”  Here’s what we are planning:

Semester One: The Odyssey, Suspense and Intrigue Unit, Ender’s Game and/or The Chosen.

Semester Two: Romeo and Juliet, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451.

Short stories, poems, and nonfiction selections will also be included within each thematic unit.
